Oncology and Food dedicates the first newsletter to illustrate the main objectives of an innovative project that creates a direct line between oncological diseases, treatments, side effects of drugs and nutrition.

EATING HEALTHILY, CHOOSING CERTAIN FOOD FOR OUR STATE OF HEALTH, AGE AND OTHER FACTORS, HAS NOW BECOME A NECESSITY

The project stems from the combination of the results of scientific studies, oncology and recent nutrition skills.  Its aim is to give support to cancer patients, to guide them towards a dietary program which will improve their lifestyle before, during and after therapy. The main goal is to achieve 100% adherence to the oncology medical treatments for patients.

CHANGING EATING HABITS IS THE NEW FRONTIER OF SCIENCE

Oncology and Food proposes “Normalism”, a new current that promotes a healthy and balanced nutritional plan for everyone.  It indicates what we need to know about the foods that help make us live better and longer. The project provides news and useful information on the online site that can be easily and immediately available.

The topics Oncology and Food will deal mainly with are: preventive nutrition hence, valid for everyone. Ad hoc customized diets for cancer patient according to his/her disease, treatments and side effects of drugs.

The chef’s recipes give tips on how prepare and put healthy foods on our tables.  The recipes make use of the sensory, chemical and nutritional characteristics of food.

The nutritionist’s advice gives indications about the correct nutrition for each patient, according to his/her needs. It addresses the period of care by ensuring a better quality of life and the maintenance of a healthy post-therapy lifestyle.

The geneticist’s scientific information will explain the characteristics of oncological diseases and the role of genetics in diet.

Social events will be organized for cancer patients, their families, and all those who wish to have information about Oncology and Food initiatives. Dinners and socio-cultural events aim to help patients find some answers to their needs, to participate in events that make them feel part of a group and not just isolated beings seeking help.
